Kayla Sophie Marcella was elected as County Commissioner as a member of the Democratic Party in November of 2024.
Originally from Harmony, Kayla has been a dedicated member of the Blaine County community for most of her life. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of San Andreas, Los Santos. Her education has given her a strong foundation in understanding the unique needs of both rural and urban areas, along with expertise in crafting policies to support diverse communities.
Before taking office, Commissioner Marcella worked as a regional director for a non-profit organization focused on housing security, where she collaborated with local governments and community partners to improve access to affordable housing. She also served as a policy consultant for the State’s Department of Public Health, where she advocated for increased mental health resources and programs addressing the opioid crisis. Her background in both non-profit and government roles has equipped her with the skills to address complex issues facing Blaine County.
Commissioner Marcella is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all residents in Blaine County. Her main priorities include expanding access to healthcare, fostering economic growth through local businesses, and preserving the natural beauty of the region through sustainable environmental policies. She aims to implement initiatives that promote affordable housing, improve infrastructure, and support small business development, all while ensuring transparency and accountability in government.
Outside of her official duties, Kayla is an active volunteer with several local charities and serves on the advisory board of the Blaine County Youth Center. She enjoys hiking, attending community events, and spending time with her family. Her dedication to Blaine County extends beyond her professional role, as she continuously seeks ways to give back to the community she proudly serves.
